Eight companies are participating in the third Digital Organization Design STARLab to be held on April 2-3, 2019 at Nike’s Tiger Woods Conference Center in Beaverton, Oregon. This session originated with a thought leader pre-lab held in September 2017 to explore the concepts and practices of Organizational Design, Leadership and Digital Technology. Global thought leaders from a variety of functional areas attended including, business executives/P&L owners, chief technology executives, software and design engineers, human resource executives, academics, organizational design professionals and social technical design professionals. The output of the September 2017 lab provided a basis for designing the first STARLab event in August of 2018 where eight large, multinational companies came together for the first STARLab Design Session held in Santa Clara, CA. On average, each company sent 4 to 5 multi-functional leaders to the session. The output from the session was shared on a password protected website for these participants.
Between the first lab in August 2018 and the second lab held in April 2019, data gathering took place through various communities of practice and company projects to increase our understanding and knowledge of digital transformation. The April 2019 lab will close out a one year membership phase for STARLab Alliance. In the April 2019 session, companies will present their digital organizational projects, key learnings, and further explore ways to enhance cross company collaboration.
